The Lord’s church at West Fayetteville is blessed with a special group of young men and women.  We are firmly convinced that “children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward” (Psalm 127:3, NKJV).  Our parents have been entrusted with the nurture and care for these young ones, and our moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and extended spiritual family members are committed to bringing them up in the Lord.

A strong emphasis is placed upon knowledge of God’s holy word.  Bible classes at West Fayetteville are heavy on Scripture, while making each lesson interesting and memorable.  There is sometimes a tendency to shortchange our children’s capacity for learning.  Can our children learn the Bible without being constantly entertained?  We not only believe they can, but we believe they will if we care enough to give them the chance they deserve. There is always a time for fun and recreation, but when we set aside time to study the Bible, we know our young ones can put on their “thinking caps.”  We have a great number of capable and caring Bible class teachers who teach our boys and girls the Bible in an interesting and memorable way.

The young folks at West Fayetteville have plenty of opportunities for recreation with one another.  Whether it’s a game of football out back, a whitewater rafting trip down the Ocoee River, a camp-out by the fire, or any of the other fun activities in which we engage, we know how to let loose and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.  These times provide a wonderful opportunity for the kids to bond with one another.

The teenagers at West Fayetteville are afforded many great opportunities to attend great programs such as: the annual Family Matters Retreat in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; T.A.B.S. (Teenage Area Bible Study), a monthly gathering of teenagers from congregations of the Lord’s church in Middle Tennessee; Camp Ney-A-Ti, a summer camp in Guntersville, Alabama, and plenty of other spiritually profitable programs.

Our kids also love to serve!  They love to serve their God, but they also love to serve their fellow man.  Turnouts are always good on workdays, nursing home visits, care-basket assemblies and deliveries, widows’ breakfasts, and such like.  Our young men are dedicated to learning the qualities and characteristics of leaders.  They work hard at learning song-leading skills, prayer-leading skills, sermon preparation and delivery skills, and so on.  Admirably, the young people at West Fayetteville do not seclude nor divide themselves from the rest of the congregation.  They are young men and women who interact with people of all ages, due in large part to their appreciation for the older members’ Christian example.

“Ministry” is a term meaning “service.”  The church of our Lord at West Fayetteville endeavors to produce young men and women who desire to serve others above themselves.  We’re thankful to God for blessing us with young people who are developing that very attitude.
