Then
the King will say to those on His right
hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world: for…I
was in prison and you came to Me.’
(Matthew 25:34, 36)
The prison
ministry of Christ’s church at West
Fayetteville is devoted to bringing the
gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are
in the local detention facility.
For a number
of years, men from West Fayetteville,
beginning with J.C. Derryberry, have
been spending an hour on Sunday
afternoons at the Lincoln County Jail
teaching any who would come and listen.
During the visits, we study the Bible,
pray, sing, and take time for
discussions and sharing of joys and
sorrows, something so necessary for
those who are incarcerated and cut off
from their families as well as society.
Through this process, a group is formed
in the jail facility with men who often
continue to help and study with one
another – even when we are not there.
Many have
been “baptized into Christ” (Galatians
3:27) over the years, and even more ears
have heard about God’s redeeming love
and promise of salvation. Join us in
our prayer for these souls; that each of
these individuals will take the seed
that has been sown, allow it to grow,
flourish, and then take the same message
and share it with others. |

Several
men from West Fayetteville are also
involved with work at the Limestone
County Prison (near Athens, AL),
teaching Bible and New Life Behavior
Ministries courses. |
